At Change of Mind Learning
Systems, we begin our testing with a nationally recognized,
norm-referenced test of reading, spelling and math. We report
these scores to you and your learner in a private testing
consultation immediately following the testing. We report
scores in terms of grade equivalency and percentile rank
for each of the three areas evaluated. The standardized
test used at Change of Mind has a rich history of high validity
and reliability. It also correlates exceptionally well with
the standardized achievement tests given in most public
and private schools.
Following the initial
academic screening, we use further standardized testing
to evaluate the language skills of your learner. We follow
that testing with performance testing that accurately tells
us the precise skills that are in place and those that require
further instruction. This assists us in placing each learner
at the perfect spot to begin successful instruction in whatever
academic area is indicated. The entire assessment, both
norm-referenced and criterion-referenced, can be accomplished
in less than two hours. Results are shared immediately with
both student and parent(s). Our testing process is learner-friendly.
