A dream of success for all learners. In 1994, a pair of educators, Dr. Margo and Jerry Barnhart, noticed the trend toward declining performance among students and were determined to change it. After carefully evaluating a variety of curricula, they settled on the Direct Instruction method as being the most effective way to reverse this downward spiral. Today, the education institution they founded - Change of Mind Learning Systems - is helping thousands of students across the country find academic success where there was only failure and despair. Through Change of Mind, the Barnharts were able to realize their dream of success for all learners through personalized assessments and exemplary instruction.

 

The Founders

Margo Barnhart received a Doctorate in Education from Harvard University in 1991 and holds degrees in Elementary and Special Education. A former superintendent, high school principal, director of pupil services and special education administrator, Dr. Barnhart has been an elementary classroom teacher and a special education teacher. Jerry Barnhart holds a Master's Degree in Special Education from the University of Northern Colorado (1994). He has successfully taught high-risk learners of all ages.

The learner will improve one grade level score in basic reading or math skills after 30 hours of direct instruction in that subject or we will provide 10 additional hours at no charge.
